At Cedars Manor School we follow the National Curriculum Programme of Study.
We aim to give each child an awareness of the world in the context of the past, present and future. To understand some of the ways in which we find out and about the past. History in the Early Years is taught looking at their own lives and families. This builds in Key Stage one with looking at famous people and events from long ago. In Key Stage two we teach from the Stone Age to 1066, in addition looking at the ancient civilisations of the Greeks and Egyptians. History is taught through visits, pictures, artefacts and written sources.
See National Curriculum Planning 2014 for details of progression.
