At Cedars Manor School we follow the National Curriculum Programmes of Study.
At Key Stage 1 pupils will develop fundamental movement skills and access a broad range of opportunities to extend their agility, balance and co-ordination. Pupils will master basic movements, participate in team games and perform simple dances.
At Key Stage 2 pupils will continue to apply and develop a broad range of skills learning to use them and link them together. Pupils will work together and will understand how to improve their skills and evaluate their performance. Pupils will tke part in Gymnastics, competitive games eg hockey, rounders and netball, dance and outdoor / adventurous activities.
Year 4 will swim every Monday and will be taught to swim confidenty and competently using a range of strokes. Some will be taught to perform safe self-rescues.
PE activities are taught by our dedicated PE teaher Mr Kirtley and by class teachers. Children will often have access to specialist support as we also partner with Watford Gymnastics club, Watford Football Club and Eastcote tennis.
There are a large range of PE clubs, before school and after school, taught, both by school staff and by outside companies.
The school takes part in both intra and inter competitions for example tournaments between year groups and classes and externaml competitions from other schools within the borough. Last year Cedars Manor was awarded the Silver Kitemark for PE which means that we have achieved all the standards required with regards to participation, competitions and club links. When taking part in sporting events and competitions, Cedars Manor expects all participants and spectators to adhere to the Harrow School's Sporting Code of Conduct.
For details of the activites and progression we expect to see please look at the following PE Progression Document.
