At Cedars Manor School, we believe that the well-being of our children is incredibly important. We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning, attainment and achievements. We are committed to making it our mission to promote resilience, positive wellbeing and mental health for our whole school community.
We understand wellbeing to be a state of being comfortable, healthy and happy.
We will strive to create an environment that has a whole school approach, in providing excellent mental health support, understanding and intervention. We pursue this aim using both universal whole school approaches, within PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) lessons and assemblies, as well as specialised, targeted approaches for identified children.
Our aim at Norbury is to help our pupils to develop the protective factors which build resilience to mental health problems, and to be a school where pupils:
Our Curriculum
Our PSHE Curriculum is devised using the latest PSHE guidance. Our teachers plan for discussion, circle time, and worry boxes for children to share their worries and fears. Assemblies and promotion of children’s rights all focus on supporting our pupils to develop the qualities, skills and attributes they need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society, now and in the future.
Supporting Your Child
At Cedars Manor we care deeply about your child's mental health and wellbeing. We focus on promoting wellbeing, modelling positive relationships and supporting our students to take care of themselves and others. We encourage our pupils' right to have their voices heard and provide them with a space to speak. We recognise the importance of providing appropriate support when children are struggling and provide specialist help through the use of external agencies.
