School Curriculum Vision
Planting the Seeds for a Successful Future
At Cedars Manor School, our curriculum is designed to provide a rich and stimulating learning experience for all our students. Our intent is to foster a love for learning, develop a deep understanding of key subject areas, and equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to thrive in a modern, ever-changing world.
Our curriculum is rooted in a strong foundation of academic excellence, personal development, and holistic growth. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and resilience. We believe in nurturing the whole child, ensuring their social, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being alongside their academic progress.
The Cedars Manor community believes that together, we will prepare each and every child for a bright future in an ever-changing world. We believe that by planting the seeds for a successful future our children, staff, parents and community can achieve educational excellence and shape the future through our ‘B’ values:
Key elements of our curriculum include:
1. Knowledge and Conceptual Understanding: We prioritize the acquisition of subject-specific knowledge and conceptual understanding across all disciplines. We believe that a strong foundation in reading as well as other core subjects lays the groundwork for future success.
2. Skills Development: We actively promote the development of essential skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and digital literacy. These skills are essential for success in the future workforce.
3. Personal Growth and Character Education: We are committed to fostering the personal growth and character development of our students. We provide opportunities for them to develop values, ethics, resilience, empathy, and a sense of social responsibility.
4. Cultural Diversity and Global Awareness: Our curriculum celebrates diversity and promotes an understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and global issues. We encourage our students to become responsible global citizens who are respectful, open-minded, and inclusive.
5. Enrichment and Extra-Curricular Activities: We continue to develop our offer of a wide range of enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular activities to complement and enhance the formal curriculum. These activities help develop student' interests, talents, and leadership skills.
We regularly review and evaluate our curriculum to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and responsive to the needs and aspirations of our students. By providing a dynamic and inclusive curriculum, we strive to empower our students to become lifelong learners.
