Volunteering at Cedars Manor

Support children as a parent volunteer at Cedars!

  • Can you spare a few hours a week?
  • Do you enjoy helping children to learn new skills?
  • Are you able to support our children in being ready, respectful and safe?

If you answer yes to all of these questions, then we would love to hear from you. Being a volunteer at Cedars is a very rewarding experience.

Activities could include:

  • Reading with individual children who need some extra practice and confidence
  • Working with a small group in the classroom
  • Support classes in our Library to sign in and sign out reading books
  • Supporting children with PE or Computing lessons
  • Creating display and supporting with resourcing
  • Gardening with a group of children!

In return for giving your time in this way, you would:

  • Receive appropriate training
  • Develop new skills
  • Have the opportunity to support some great children
  • Add another element to your CV
  • Be able to give to your community in a really practical way

You would need to commit to giving your support on a regular basis for a period of time – at least a term in the first instance - and would need to apply for a DBS check to ensure you are suitable to work with children. The school will organise this for you. You would also attend an interview and suitable references would be received and followed up. You would not support your own child.

If you think you may be a suitable person to support a child or group at Cedars to enhance academic and social progress and also make a valuable contribution to your child’s school, then please complete a Volunteer Application Form. These are available to download here or a paper copy can be collected from the school office. Please email these or hand them directly to the school office when complete.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to ask any questions. We look forward very much to hearing from you!
